I only have around 1,500 miles on my Duramax and I started getting the clunking noise around the front left side of my truck suspension when I make turns in either direction? Any ideas what it could be?
Any help would be great. Thanks
I may have a problem with my drivers side nurf bar mount rubbing a grounding bolt, I'll fix this today and give an update.

I discovered that the drivers side front nurf bar bracket was bumping against a grounding bolt, I removed the excess threads from the bolt and reinstalled the bracket, test drove, and no more noise.
Cheers

I have a clunking noise as well from the front suspension. I just had my steering shaft replaced with the new design so I don't think that it is. But when you go over a big crack in pavement, pull into a gas station lot where the concrete is an inch or tow higher it sounds like something in the front end is loose, like a control arm or something.

I just started getting a clunking noise..but it is during suspension travel...like when you go over a drainage dip in the road.
I have looked but cannot see anything.
I intend to replace the front suspension....only 42k miles...because the steering is getting sloppy..not sure if it is related.

If you look closely the top grounding wire bolt is real close to the nurf bar mount bracket, I had to cut off at least 6 or 7 threads that was contacting the mount.

OK. I had this same issue. Came up right after a bad storm. Took it into the dealer. He replaced the front steering arm as per the buletin. Got in the truck, drove out of the dealer. Still did it. Sounded like something was loose in the front end like the wheel was rattling off when you swung the steering back and forth. Even on slight bumps, it felt like something was loose in the front suspension. Since I had the new steering arm, I knew that wasnt the issue anymore.
Go to the back side of the truck. Grab the side of the bed of the truck and try to shake the sh_t out of the truck. You will probably hear the leaf springs making a lot of noise. The techs spent 4 hours on it before they realized that if they put grease between the leaves, it solved the problem. FYI, my truck only had 8500 miles on it. No problems since the grease job.

Did they remove the spring pack and sperate the leafs?

i had a clunking noise a few months after buying my 2002. turned out to be a busted shock, snapped right at the lower knuckle. found it by grabbing it & pulled right out. if it wasnt for that i dont know if i would have found it. looked fine until it pulled. i dont know about these front end parts, if i wanted light duty parts i would kept my sonoma.

No, they didnt separate the leaves. They just took a screwdriver and pried up enough on the leaf, then shot grease in there.
Knew it wasnt shocks. I had put brand new Bilsteins on...so that was ruled out. This really fixed my problem. Believe me, I thought at first it was the steering linkage issue everyone has been hollering about.
