My question is related to passing an emission inspection with the kitty removed. I have an 05 lly and I removed the kitty and put an MBRP turbo back system. Has anyone been through an emission test w/o their kitty on and if so did it pass? I live in one of two counties in Wash state that require emission testing. Any input from someone in Wash or anywhere would be appreciated.
If needed I will keep the kitty and just slap it back on when my number is called for inspection.

It may be on the required equpment list. Even if you pass the tail pipe test some state require a visual inspection to make sure certain equipment is on the vehicle. If that's the case you can still fail. I'd keep the kitty just in case. I kept mine.

Hoghunter,

You will not need a test until 2010, new vehicles are exempt for the first 5 years.

There are 5 counties that require testing (Snohomish, King, Pierce, Clark & Spokane). This covers the major cities.

I wouldn't pitch the cat and if you sell the rig before 2010, you may want to give the cat to the new owner.

SS396, thanks for the info. Went to that website and yup no test until 2010. I will keep the kitty to pass on if I still have truck then or sell.

Quick note for all you Washington folks. The legislators are trying to pass a bill that would require California emissions here. Call or email your legislator and tell them to vote no on this bill. There's no way we want that kind of restriction.

In Texas it gets inspected every year. I haven't had a problem.
