: New PPE excelerator
JMC29 07-31-2008, 08:19 PM I have been reading these forums for a while, but this is my first post. I just put tune #2 from my new ppe excelerator standard into my otherwise stock 04 4x4 crewcab and I absolutely love it. I bought the tuner after quite a bit of research on this site and elsewhere. It was time well spent! Next up gauges and 4" exhaust.
sparky1562 07-31-2008, 09:12 PM Put it on level 5! If you like level 2....:drop_mout:rockit:
JMC29 07-31-2008, 10:19 PM There is a dragstrip 2 miles from my place I will try level 5 the next street legal Friday then back to level 2.
rebel zuk 07-31-2008, 10:46 PM but dont you need a beefed up tranny to handle those settings?
1BIG4X4 07-31-2008, 11:46 PM I put my truck on level 4 for a trip down the freeway for a couple of exits:rocking: it was amazing. I just did a slow roll on. I did not launch from a dead stop and it was fine. I would not run past 3 regularly or you will probably do some damage to your tranny.
JMC29 I would say you did things backwords. You should have gotten the gauges first so that you know what your truck is doing. Then get the programmer. You can melt your turbo if the egt's get to high for too long. I have 4" turbo back exhaust and hit 1300 degrees in no time even on level 2. With stock exhaust you are going to get hotter quicker. Just be very carefull until you get your Pyro. I would not put it on 5 until you know what your EGT's are. Actually, I would not go above level 2.
Good luck
Mike,
JMC29 08-01-2008, 08:32 AM I understand but I just couldn't help myself. I'll have gauges soon.

Yes. I did what Mike did. Had to get to the parts store quick! :D
Got back home and put in on level 3. I put it on level 2 when towing.

You won't wanna go back to level to 2 after you've had it on 5, trust me i'm in the same boat had it on 5 for about 2 weeks and i've limped twice. oh-well i was gonna have the tranny built any-ways. (Long story short, don't try level 5 because you won't want to run anything else.)
1LTREATR 08-06-2008, 06:39 PM dont try level 5 because then you'll be curious to know what 6 is like......then its time to upgrade.....everything...................):h
Wesley Dueck 08-06-2008, 06:45 PM Never had gauges on my lb7. Of course i had a hypertech. I think they maybe run lower egt's than the ppe but still... i towed 19,000lb's on the highest setting.
But yes i would definately recomend getting gauges asap.
BigTwoFive 08-11-2008, 11:05 AM Man I put mine on L5 about a week ago and couldn't stop laughing...The power was ridiculous......
I have gauges installed and just ran mine on a 250 mile trip all interstate on Level 4. I set the cruise on 70 and my egt temps ran around 800...Of coarse they go up if you mash it but go right back down when you let off.
Oh and I got right @ 20mpg with the grandma driving!
JMC29 08-11-2008, 04:14 PM Any suggestions where to buy 2 pod a pillar with egt and boost gauges.
dgoguy 08-11-2008, 04:19 PM i bought my 2 pod pillar and gauges seperately form jegs, they have awesome customer service, and it gets to your house pretty quick
BigTwoFive 08-19-2008, 03:19 PM I bought my a pillar pod and gauges from Diesel Performance. Along with the majority of my other goodies.
jraymer 08-19-2008, 10:24 PM You could just get the Edge Monitor, or whatever Edge calls it, just the monitor not the tuner. At least that what I would like, if you can buy just that.
wilsonck 08-20-2008, 01:42 AM Get it from someone who also has the paint to match your interior. I think DPPI on here sells for a good price and has the paint.
