Hi Guys,

Anyone using the new double pleated fuel filters? I am getting ready to place an order for some more filters and notice that there are two kinds available now. I have used the original OEM filter so far, but am willing to pay the extra price for the new style if it is better. Are there any issues with flow restriction? I notice it is double pleated, if I am running the Racor pre-OEM setup as well do you think I will have flow problems? Thanks in advance for the input.

I've asked this same question and still haven't gotten a straight answer. I have the Nictane pre-OEM. I run the Edge Juice/Attitude and I am concerned about fuel flow restriction due to the two filters and the added fuel pull from the Edge.

Ive asked nick and he said that the double pleate filter shouldnt cause any flow problems. I wouldnt bother getting the new filter until you cant find anymore single pleate filters. How do you like that racor filter?

The new filters will cause no restriction issues. Even if used with a secondary filter.

For those of you who want some of the old filters, I have some OEM units avail that I will sell out in case lots for a reduced price. PM if interested

Thanks for the replies. I think I might try the new filter. I have to order some more anyway, whats ten more bucks a filter?

JhnZ71 - I am happy with the Racor setup. It was a breeze to install and as far as I know it is doing its job.

Just received one of the new OEM filters from dmaxallitech, and noted its outward appearance was the same as the old one - except for a broken black line painted around it. Would this be how one could tell the difference between old OEM and new?

By the way, Eric, thanks for continued great service!

I haven't done any detailed studies, but it wouldappear that the dual pleat adds a solid 1"hg pressure drop on an idling Dmax. Nothing severe, but if you are marginal already it could have an effect. This is why I chose such a large element for my Mega filter. With the new synthetic media it will only be better!

Isn't there anyone getting close to a fuel filter change with the dual pleat that could cut it open and give us a peek after it's been used? I've only got 3K on my filter - not enough to disect it yet.

Inquiring minds want to know :)

I'll ask again.

How do you know it's the new style filter without cutting it open?

there is a black stripe on the new one. I believe if it is a napa filter the part # is 33910 or 3910. Just do a search on fuel filter or pleated and you can read the threads on it.

Where can you buy this new filter. Is it at the Dealer? or is it at the parts store. Also, what brand, and how do I know it is the dual pleat element?

Thanks for your help. I am at 11,000 and probably time to look at the fuel filter change.

Thanks for the help.

I change the fuel filter every 7,500 miles.

One inch HG more is a lot. That sucker better work better. We won't know if it is one bit better until someone spends the money to have George do an analysis. Until then we are just hoping. I think OC Dmax has some baseline vacuum readings. Later! Frank

I put in the double pleated filter about 500 miles ago. I also have the Nicktane setup and have not had any fuel flow problems. Just my experience.

there is a black stripe on the new one.
That's what I figured (back in post #6 of this thread). Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

One way to tell is by looking at the part number on the filter. If it is a GM AC/Delco branded filter, then the new double pleated version will also have the black stripes printed on the outside of the filter.

Here is a thread showing a picture of the new GM AC/Delco branded filter with the black stripes. Look at post number 29 by Max Payne (11/19/04).

Here is a X-Reference of the filter part numbers for the new version of the filter:

I am aware of at least three supporting vendors who sell the filter:

GM AC/Delco branded (dmaxalliTech) http://www.gmdieseltech.com/
Baldwin branded??? (John Kennedy) http://www.kennedydiesel.com/
Baldwin branded (Greg L) http://www.lubricationspecialistllc.com/

The AC/Delco replacement Oil Filter is blue and the OEM Isuzu Oil Filter is black. However, the AC/Delco Fuel Filter is white, and I am not aware of an Isuzu branded Fuel Filter.
