Installed my boost gauge today, its an autometer Sport Comp II, I taped the brown and white wire from the dimmer switch and used a 1000 ohm resistor on positive side of the circuit. The gauge dims just like the factory gauges.

That looks clean. I used the same spot to mount an Autometer EGT gauge in my brothers DMax.
That looks slick.
What did you use for the plate the gauges is mounted in?
I might do this... I've got use for several other gauges, not sure what I'd put in there yet though.

Note that the CUBBYCAM Gauge Pod Mount is the only in-dash gauge pod mount with an adjusting screw that prevents the mount from falling back into the dash.
