Anybody ever put a clutch in one??? How big a job is it?? Isn't that an EXTERNAL clutch??

Pretty easy job, and yes it's external. Just pop off the cover or unbolt,(can't remember on that model) there will be three studs with cotter keys in them, remove the old keys and remove all three nuts. Next pull the outer cast iron peice off then the clutches will be right there in your face, remove the old clutches and clean all of the old lining material out and replace with the new clutches. After new linings are installed adjust nuts until there is a good snap when you engage and disengage the clutch, when you get it set replace the cotter keys with 3 new ones. After running the new clutch for a few hours you may need to adjust again. All parts are available at John Deere and usally they have them in stock, around here anyway. GOOD LUCK...

THANK YOU!!!!!! That seems simple enough.....I THINK I read (somewhere) the 820 has 11 clutch plates......???
