Are the Carter lift pumps worth a flip? If not what do you guys recommend?

My carter made a year but TDG says Delphi are better.

I've had the best luck with OEM Delco units.

Not much savings compared to just going with an OEM.

QM: You make it sounds like a year of service from the lift pump is normal. Is that true? Jeeze, if it is then a guy oughta be hauling a spare lift pump around right next to the spare OPS and spare PMD.

My 1995 truck has lift pump #2 in it, the OEM went 7 years and 2 years on it's replacement and 185K miles, so I'd say one year is not typical unless you buy a poor pump.

the OPS can be wired to protect it by installing a relay to run the pump instead of putting all that current through the OPS. Use the OPS to trip a relay instead and you'll get nearly lifetime service out of it.

Put a filter on the frame rail prior to the lift pump and it won't have to sift rocks as well as pump fuel, direct power from aux relay controlled by OPS will keep the pump motor happy

GO ACDELCO or DELPHI, run away from Carter and Master.
QM is right, you might get a year out of a Carter pump, I'd rather spend an extra few bucks for a longer lasting pump, the Delphi unit puts out more pressure and lasts just the same as OEM.
