: Boy is GM making it easy to jump ship
a bear 07-29-2008, 02:18 PM Ford is now offering Employee Pricing + 3000 Cash Back + 3000 Loyalty Cash if you currently own a Ford. (The way loyalty plans are suppose to work)
GM on the other hand has NO employee pricing or Loyalty Cash unless you own a non GM vehicle that you are trading. STUPID--> STUPID--> STUPID. Since all I currently own is GM products (What I consider true Loyalty) I guess I'm no longer eligible for loyalty cash. :confuzeld
Once Ford switches to the 4.4 and 6.7 Scorpion Diesels with the 6 speed tranny I wouldn't be surprised to see a major suitcase parade at the GM camp. Wake up GM...:smashfrea
redneckbuckeye 07-29-2008, 03:07 PM Makes me think Ford is hurting worse than GM

Couple things.....
First if you think you're getting true employee cost.... I've got a bridge to sell ya. IMHO since the cats out of the bag about the invoice not being the "cost" to the dealer this is their latest gimmick.
Second, Look at the resale value. If the resale value of Fords is tanking since they have to almost give them away... are you really saving anything?
Finally, JMHO, but I think the new 4.5 diesel from GM will stomp on the Ford :)
a bear 07-29-2008, 03:39 PM I guess the part that chaps my a$$ the most is that you don't qualify for GM loyalty cash unless you trade a non GM vehicle. They're basically saying I'm not loyal because all my vehicles are GM. That just doesn't make sense to me.... With a program like this it's apparent that GM is more worried about attracting new customers than taking care of the ones they have. It's going to cost them in the long run as a sale to the competition is a sale and possible customer they lost.
Dmax22 07-29-2008, 04:52 PM A couple of dealers around me are offering 1/3 of any new ford truck, and one is doing 1/2 off any new dodge 1500. But GM is doing anything like that. But now would be the time to buy a truck if you needed to.
66flh 07-29-2008, 04:58 PM The Dodges here are up to 50% off.A buddy of mine bought a new Loaded Mega Cab for 37K!!!Not a bad deal.
Joey D 07-29-2008, 08:24 PM All these sales and deep discounts are for quick sales and hurt them in the long run.
Bison 07-30-2008, 09:53 AM Anyone know what the real breakeven price is on any vehicle?
I hate car salesman with a passion, never seen an honest one yet.
on top of that,i take my chances with a used vehicle bought privetly,IMO diff in price between new and used will pay for a looot of repairs
tbeck 07-30-2008, 02:38 PM Nothing like offering a "bounty" on the other brand/make of car/pickup/machinery/you-name-it to get things riled up! As stated above, its just another gimmick.
01Duramax6spd 07-30-2008, 06:56 PM Boy if I could find 50% off a new 5500 Cummins I'd be thinking seriously about one even though I just bought a 2nd D-Max.

One of the Dodge dealers here has a row of the very truck I want - a 2500 series 4x4 crew cab with the turbodiesel. Been there long enough that the batteries on several were too low to start. They weren't willing to come down enough yet, but in a few months when the year is ending and tax time nears...
05duramax073 08-20-2008, 08:06 PM Same thing around here with the dodge trucks. I would love a new truck, but I just could not think about pulling the trigger on a Dodge.
rhinolite 08-22-2008, 09:42 PM Why would you want to jump ship anyways? My truck has been perfect since the day I have bought it. I wouldn't want to deal with the emmision stuff anyways.
StompinRound 08-22-2008, 10:06 PM Dealer here is offering a 08 F150 4dr club cab for $12k out the door
Deere Freek 08-22-2008, 10:07 PM Dealer here is offering a 08 F150 4dr club cab for $12k out the door
