I spoke to Banks this morning to get some info on their LLY kit. The Trucks show was broadcast 1 month earlier than planned and the PDA's are not ready yet. They will ship by about June 1.
The kit for the LLY is a cat back system only, but you can use the turbo downpipe from the LB7 kit. They recommend against it due to the noise from the turbine. Does that mean the LB7 kit sounds bad?
The PDA allows many changes to the shift defueling. It takes the place of the speedloader. It has to be attached and powered up to work (monitor EGT and defuel accordingly).. I guess this means that it's "in the loop", and not just a tool for programming and monitoring. Without it, you have the 6-gun kit without a speedloader. When on, it overrides the knob.
Default is to defuel at 3% slip. He said the trans goes into limp at 5% slip.
He also said that removing the cat or blocking the EGR will set codes. If installing a low-restriction exhaust will not set codes, I don't see how removing the cat will. There are no sensors past the cat.
When I first saw it, I liked the PDA, but I thought it would just program the system, then you can remove it. Evidently it has to be in and on to allow EGT monitoring, and the desired shift defueling program.
I had decided on a Banks system, but now I think the attitude in the overhead console mount is better.
