I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find a thread on it. What type of oil, weight of oil and type filter do ya'll use? Also, am I correct that it is 10 quarts?

Yes. 10 quarts. I recommend Amsoil 15w-40 diesel oil. There are others, but use a synthetic that is of high quality. Amsoil has proven results, time and time again. Use Amsoil EaO oil filter. Amsoil has a website that will give you all the info you need. Also there are dealers available to help.

The info should also be in your owner's manual, specifically in the diesel supplemental book. If you don't have one, I think GM will provide one free of cost.

The search function, especially the "advanced search", works well for this type of question. I typed in "engine oil" and got back 500 threads, in this forum alone.

I use all oem filters, ACDelco and Allison, and Delo 15-40 for now...
