A buddy of mine is picking up a new '07 3500 D-Max van. He's already asking me about programmers for towing. I'm not too sure how the tranny is gonna like the extra power. Has anybody tuned a van? What did you use?

I talked to bully dog, expressed my concerns about tranny and heat, etc. bully dog told me their triple dog would work on the vans. But I haven't tried it myself

I know he doesn't want to spend a lot, and he is leaving the intake and exhaust stock. Would a Hypertech or Predator be a better option?

Everybody has had some issues with all tuners except for EFI live. There is a few tables that are different from the trucks. Vans have 250 hp and trucks have 365 hp. Those tuners are adding power according to truck specs not the vans. You and your buddy should both go in together and get EFI live. I am talking from experience with what I have done to my van.

What kind of realistic gains do you think you are getting from the EFI live ? Do you monitor EGT's ? I thought about one but i mostly use mine for work and need it to last ( so i can pay for it)

I am running about a 50 horse tune. Easy 22 MPG lately.

i know the predator doesn't work b/c of the trans. and i've had quite a few guys run the bully dog for a while w/o any issues.

The predator causes throttle issues and basic drivablity issues. It gives more power for sure on all settings.
I have EFI with a McRat tune and it drives just like a stock van except more power. My van had 220rwhp at the wheels stock and now has just over 325rwhp.

I have been looking at the EFI Live site. Where would be the best place to buy it for after the purchase support for tunes and such for our vans? What EFI V2 is needed. Just the $399 or the $749. or is it the $399. plus the $99.? The time for it is getting closer.:D

FlashScan V2 will work with any Duramax Motor - LB7 through to LMM.

FlashScan V1 will ONLY work with LB7 and LLY Duramax motors.

Each product has 2 different versions - Scan Only which is effectively a diagnostic scan tool, and Scan and Tune; which allows you to use the Scan only features, plus tune your truck. Most users go for FlashScan V2 because it's got better features, better vehicle support, and long term development for V1 will cease.

FlashScan V2 $399 version you quote is Scan only (ie you can read, clear codes and log). The $749 version allows you to tune your truck as well.

In terms of after purchase support, there are many good vendors on this website that sell EFILive with after service support as well as custom tunes. Off the top of my head, the below DieselPlace vendors are EFILive vendors.

SoCal Diesel
Duramax Tuner
Kennedy Sales and Service
Crank It Up Diesel Performance
Adrenaline Truck Performance
Dynadroit Diesel
