Headed for the cabin on Saturday morning, with the tag-along trailer carrying 4 4 wheelers, a bed full of beer and fishing crap, and the cab full of 250-300 pounders. First couple hills went great, temps stayed right around 200 (on the factory gauge), and the engine was pulling fine. On about the 4th long pull uphill, I heard the exhaust leak start at my blocker plate. Not bad at first, but the next hill really seemed to blow it out, and it was shrieking to beat the band. This is the second time this has happened to me. Pulled over and yanked the plate out, then went on our way. I guess I will try replacing the factory metallic gasket and then re-install my blocker. Any have other ideas to fix this? It is a real PIA to pull this thing on the side of the road.
Other than this damn EGR, the truck worked great. Got 13.9 mpg up and back (hand calc - 21.9 gal of fuel and 306 miles). Very happy with that considering that my 2001 F250 gasser only got 9-11mpg running around empty.

I use asbestos gasket material. Used the old metal gasket for a template, traced and cut out the new one. Threw the metal one in the trash. No leaks for over 2 years now.

I used sheet graphite gasket material for turbos and just traced the blocker plate on the sheet and cut it out. I put one on the exhaust side of the OEM gasket, and one on the egr side of the blocker plate.

I would recommend checking the two bolts for tightness periodically to make sure they have not backed off any. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck

I was thinkin about this for mine but don't know if it would work... find an up pipe from an LB7 for that side an put that in. since that doesen't have the Y to the EGR. and then just put the blocker plate on the EGR so nothing can get in there..... anyone know if that would work?
