I have a 2007 gmc 2500 with the ppe programmer. I want to delete the dpf and keep the doc. The dpf bolts into the exuast. I was wondering if i could get a 4 inch pipe and have it welded so it could bolt it into the exauast like the dpf. I could put the dpf back on for dealership visits. I was also wondering if it will smoke like a diesel should with just the doc on. i also was hoping it would be louder. Will this cause engine problems if i run the correct tune?
thanks!

Keep both or lose both. The DOC works with the DPF.

Will the removal of the dpf and doc cause any types of engine damage? I'm also guessing it will void the warranty.

No definant answer on voiding warranty I know of. I would say read as many post and use the search tool to see what you can conclude. If you are going to remove the DPF get rid of the DOC as well. Have had no issues with removal of mine. Just runs great now. Just love driving 7 hours non stop on the interstate, stop and fuel, and jump into the throttle getting back on. Can't see anyone behind me with it hammered down. Then the exhaust is cleaned out and not smoke as bad till cruising for long periods of time again. Doubt removal of just DPF will increase exhaust much. You can make a piece to replace just the DPF and swap out but if you ask about an engine issue and they start looking for last regen times and see non for a while they will know something is up. One just either does it or not. If you want to play then you may have to pay.

Contact your surrounding area dealers or ones that you have dealt with. Test the waters with them an ask what there feelings are towards certain mods. I'm doing that exact thing right now. Whoever is willing to work with me and I will be up front as to what I've done and if my mods caused it I will pay for it. Just don't hassle me on other non related to my mods warranty issues and I will bring you my business.

how do you guys like the noise of the turbo back? I bet it sounds good. i think if the doc was left on there it would still make a little more noise then it did with the dpf. I just dont want the dpf to clog in the middle of a road trip again. thats why i want it gone lol

What should i do with all the wiring connected to the dpf if i want to make the dpf interchangable? Whats a good type of place to have this work done?

I doubt many shops will work with you on this as far removing the DPF. If they get caught, they will pay dearly. No aftermarket companies make DPF delete's, you've got to buy a previous year Exhaust system. Just do it yourself. Not rocket science. I ordered my stuff from Nate here of DP and read all kinds of things here, installed everything in about 3 hours. Everything you need to know is posted in the Exhaust section here. It's at the top of the section, it's a sticky, says LMM Exhaust. Every possible scenario/question is asked/answered about the DPF. If you are going to take the DPF off, take the DOC off as well. Really no reason to keep the DOC if the DPF is gone. Have fun reading. Chris

if you go the swap around idea then just disconnect the lines from the pressure sensor and plug them and leave wiring connected. Then for the EGT sensors unscrew them from the DPF and reconnect to their plugs and tie wrap them to the frame.

If you remove them be prepared to lose the warranty. The computer tracks regen cycles. If the # of regens is totally out of wack, gm will assume you tampered with the exhaust. The computer also tracks # of reprogram cycles, if the # of flashes is also way out of wack, gm can (ya right, they will) kill the POWERTRAIN warranty. If the radio dies, that has nothing to do with the exhaust, or ecm program. Tranny dies, pistons melt, rods crack, etc they will check the computer. I would assume by now then know about programmers, and what they can do, which is why the computer tattles on you in the lmm's. It is your truck, do as you see fit, but to quote the boy scouts, be prepared.
