Hi All,

I bunged up my hood pulling a stump http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif ...well, at least I was doing something useful at the timehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/grd.gif

Anyway, was researching replacement hoods, and came across this functional Ram Air hood at Stylin Concepts (thankyou Trucks!) by Keystone

Has anyone tried one of these? If so, how does it look? Does it help any? I have a cold air intake already, so this may help some and will look http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool2.gif

I want one also. Good Hood makes one with two scoops that empty out over the air cleaner. I found it at Carhoods.com.

I've got one and I really like it. I dont have the actual ram air part hooked up....I dont know if you even can with the duramax, but it sure looks nice! I ordered the SS ram air style but they sent me more of a cowl induction looking hood with the ram air front. I wasnt impressed but at $150 just for shipping to send it back and have another one sent would have costed more than the damn hoood would be worth! I cant figure out how to upload pics on here but you can check it out at this webshots site..

Looks cool! Adds to the lines of the truck. I will have to get one soon.

What is the story with the collapsed AFE air filter?

I doubt the ram air will help any. it does look good though. for a DD I would get a steel hood not a glass hood. Check out my truck. Its open mesh for a somewhat functional cowl(or so could be made)

Ratlover, where do we have to go to see your truck? I agree about the ram air. The turbo is going to do more air ramming than anything...And I am also a firm believer in Steel hoods, not fiberglass. These hoods are a lot larger than most vehicles..lot of weight for fiberglass to hold on the shocks....
DMaxEnvy, I think the general consensus on the board here about the filter was that I didnt clean it soon enough. I probablly agree, but I thought they would be good for more than 15K miles... It even had a sock over it MOST of the time... Right now I'm runnin my old KNN and looking to go back to my stock box, possibly using my KNN intake...As you saw, these things suck/move A LOT of air!!!

Might give you another option to go with. It is a 1500 series Ram Air hood on a 2500 series HD

Man that is nice! How's the view from inside the truck? Is it open in the back?

The view is kinda cool it is open at the back it is perforated to allow air to be drawn out. You can definately see the raised portion from inside the cab. Makes changing the wiper blades a little tricky but thats it.
