I have the following paint code for my 2003 hd. wa7840.. galaxy silver. problem is, my paint can not find that code in his data base, sprayed my handles with a "galaxy silver" that came up uinder a different code, that loo0ked the same, but ended up being off... so I need some help in finding some info on this.

thanks

my paint code also didn't show in a data base. Every once in a while a bogus code is printed in the option list inside the glove box, mine was one of these. The solution is to go to the dealer parts dept. and ask them to look up the vin # in their data base and give you the correct paint code. worked for me. Mine happened to be the dark green metalic with a wrong number.

LB7UP - Looking in my charts, your paint code comes up with no problem....Are you trying to buy this in an aerosol can or are you having it mixed to spray with a paint gun? The reason I ask is because silver is a bastard to match, especially when it's been in the sun for a few years....I do have an alternate forumula for mixing your color code...(The data on it is bright face, dirty sidetone)

EDIT! - After further reveiw, I think you might be right about the WA code being printed wrong....This color comes up as a fleet color (semi-trucks, trailers, etc) in my system....Post the vin# in asks the techs...From there, I'll take the paint code (xxD) or whatever it is and research it some more...

It looks as if you may have some type of special paint on the truck, it is not coming up with a factory code other then "TGK - SPECIAL PAINT PROCESS OPT-SOLID "

Not gonna be much help on this one, but on the other hand, your truck has an open campaign on tailgate straps!

Tony:( I wish you were here in town, Tony...I'd mix the paint and shoot it for you..Having a mixing bank here, we could match it perfectly.....Since that isn't an option though, my suggestion is to do this:
Lots of paint stores and some body shops have what's called a "color gun"...What this does is take a picture of the paint on your truck, looking at it from different angles to get a correct match, then it gives the formula so it can be mixed.....I would find one of these shops, have your truck "shot", and get the paint code the gun gives...More than likely, you'll want to have them mix it for you too, since paint sales numbers don't always cross reference wel between brands (my usual nightmare)..Take that paint along with the associated reducer and hardner to your painter and re-spray your handles.......

Well, make a few phone calls to some of the parts stores that sell paint in your area first....chances are you'll find one that has a color gun for this process....
