Had a prob recently with my check engine light. It turned on one afternoon, and wouldn't shut off. Off to the dealer, and they said it looked like someone had tried to siphon fuel from my tank and damaged the filler neck in the process. They wrote it up as a "defect from the factory" so it was repaired under warranty (thanks!). I promptly went to the parts dept to order a locking cap, and was told that none work on the gassers that don't trigger the check engine light. So I got a nice alloy fuel door with a lock to hopefully avoid this problem again the future. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the "look" it provides (kind of ricer), but if it keeps the theives away, so be it. Just thought I'd pass this along, and ask if anyone has a locking cap that doesn't trigger the check engine light?

it would be nice if it was a stock look or somehow opperated using the stock door

I find that interesting.
Unless they have changed the way the tank/emission system works, mine works fine.
I had the Transfer flow tank put in and ask them for threee (3) locking gas caps, and keyed alike.
My 02 Suburban, my dmax, and the TF tank all have the same key "locking gas cap."
Ask another parts guy.
I wish it looked more stock also.
As for the cap, in my owners manual it states the first thing to check if the light comes on solid (doesn't blink) is the gas cap. Guess if its not secure, it will set a code. Well mine didn't work after the attempted tampering, and according to the parts guy the replacements with locks must not vent right. Not sure if its a gasser thing or not or limited to factory replacement locking cap. Just sharing...

I have a GM locking gas cap that was for the 02 D/A which I put on the 05 D/A until I got my 100 gal tank in the bed, put on the canopy, and used the Transferflo Canopy fuel filler. I then moved my locking gas cap up to the canopy and installed a brushed locking door on the stock tank opening. Before I installed it, I painted it with one of those small cans of factory match paint from the dealer. Looks like it belongs, and you need to look twice to see it. tom

Could always get them painted. That would de-emphasize(?) the billet.
I wanted mine to "somewhat" match my Escalade door handles, so
I had only the outter trim ring painted, leaving the screws and
door bright. Here's some before/after Pictures (http://207.53.239.181/%7Eterry/truck/FuelDoorLock/)

Locking cap for the gas motors works fine. Had mine for over a year with no problem.

"Evaporative Emissions".... But I guess if your fuel cap is tampered with in the night, this could cause "Nocturnal Evaporative Emissions"):h
