Cool. Ol' Rudolph is also famous for quotes like
“The use of plant oil as fuel may seem insignificant today. But such products can in time become just as important as kerosene and these coal-tar-products of today.”
"The diesel engine can be fed with vegetable oils and would help considerably in the development of agriculture of the countries which use it.”
Rudolf’s birthday is March 18.... great day to drink beer and smell diesel fumes at the diesel dragstrip!
One of the best little postings about the work of Rudolph Diesel is on the TDI club forums... (http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=204867)

Rudolf Diesel was, IMHO, one of the most influential inventors in all time. Between he, and Clessie Lyle Cummins (founder of Cummins, worked on the creation of the Jacobs Brake, and his son, C. Lyle Cummins has written a few books on Diesel engines, technology, and history), I cannot think of many people as influential in the diesel world.

Its a shame he did not live long enough to realize his positive and influential impact on the industrial world.
