I remember reading in here somewhere that some people were blowing their air filters out if they were in the desert...

I've got about 25K miles, after getting back from the desert I decided to pull out the air filter for the second time and blow it out with a compressor. Should I replace it? Don't want a K&N... I picked up a filter at the dealer...about $55. Couldn't find one at Pep Boys...

I would replace it, rather than blow it out. I know it is tempting, but it is not the best thing for the filter. There are services that"wash" them. I have used them in my heavy equipment. I don't like them, they plug up faster than a new one.

I would replace it. I always blow it out at least once, and then replace it. Cheap insurance.

I want to check mine. Anything special to get it out? Turn it one way or another?

When you go to the dealership, ask if you can get a discount on the part. Also, vendors on this site, like Merchant Automotive, have the oem parts for a good price, and you don't have to drive and use diesel to get them...
