While goin 70 or faster with my 2004.5 lly chevy duramax ext. cab s/b I hear a really loud popping coming around my windshield. I took it to the dealer and he said it's because I have a bug deflector. He said when the air hits the bug deflector and then hits the windshield it makes the popping noise. Something about the angle the wind hits my truck. Are any of you guys experiencing this kind of trouble with a bug deflector? I haven't had the time to take off the bug deflector to see if it does it then.

Is it a pop or is it like a slapping, you can try siliconing the trim on the edge of the windshield.

silicone fix worked for me. if you take the deflector off you will get rid of the noise, but i like my deflector.

The wind makes the windshield gasket flap. It's not sound of the wind hitting the windshield. Just do as these other guys said and silicone the gasket to the windshield.

The dealer should fix it for you.

Took the deflector off, no more noise.

I had the same problem exactly, took off the bug guard and the noise is no more!

I dont have a bug deflector, and I DO have the noise.......Guess when the east coast dries out I will have to try the silicon fix.

yep! happened to me the first day, and it is the bug deflector. My dealership simply removed the window trim on the sides and used some silicon to hold them on tighter. Problem solved - takes only ten to fifteen minutes.

When I had a bug guard on my 96 that I had it would make the outside mirrors viberate bad, had to take the bug guard off.

There is a service bulletin on this problem.carried mine back and they replaced the trim om both sides of the window..At first they did not want to fix then some big dog told the service rider about the bulletin. no more problem.
