I installed the 40 tune in my truck. Is it still ok to use my tow haul button when i am towing.:)

i believe so as the 40hp tune is for towing with the predator.

Sure, IIRC all the T/H does is change the shift points. Don't forget you need to let the Allison learn in T/H after it completes it's learning without T/H.

i dont tow too much, actually havent with this truck yet. I also only haul truck loads of firewood and two motorcycles at a time. im buying a predator today. the only time i use the t/h button is coming down the hill away from my house, its super steep and windy and about 3 miles long. can i still use the t/h button even though Im gonna run the 85hp setting?

in order to let the t/h mode learn the new tune should i just drive around alittle with the t/h on.

Tow haul does a few things. Gives you more active grade braking, locks the torque converter in more gears and changes your shift points. These all put more power to the rear wheels and keep the tranny cooler.

I almost never drive without T/H engaged, for the exact reasons Rockin mentioned

Are you guys having any issues with a flare in T/H? I know some guys are, and I am too. My Alli seems to have learned for the most part in normal mode with the extra 40HP provided by the Predator, but T/H still flares pretty badly. I've been trying to drive easy in T/H to let it learn, but it seems to learn pretty slowly.

coyotekid,

I thought mine was the only one with a large flare during shifts in T/H with the predator. I let it learn for 2 days and its still bad. I dont even bother with T/H at this point.

Same here, after trying it out more after reading this thread its great. I hardly need to brake when coming to a stop and I like the sound the engine makes gearing down. I'm sure ppl would think I'm driving a manual.

Yeah, I'd like to get mine to learn in T/H. Any suggestions? Am I doing damage to my Alli?

Check the thread on letting the Alli learn with the Predator, Down shift method. Get it up to 55 and then shift to first gear. The Allison will down shift on it's own thru the gears and the transmission will learn. Do it three time and the shifting will improve. Come to a stop each time before starting another run.

I would do a little research on that. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that is a myth, but I could be wrong.

It is a myth. Put some weight behind you and it will learn quick enough!
