I have been following the threads related to unplugging the EGR valve, installing "blocker plates", and the finger stick mod.
Any of you that have done this regret doing so?
What have the real benefits been?
I just picked up my new truck Saturday and would like to disable the EGR, but I am a little tentative to do so. Only have 160 miles on it!
Thanks for your replies. -Keith

I've had my EGR disconected for almost 15K miles now. First I started by just pulling the plug on the EGR Valve then I installed the blocker plate and Fingers stick. I don't know if things are different on the '05's but I have had not problems with this mod. Keeps the crud from flowing back into the cylinders.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/Throwup.gif

I was going to ask the same question. I wanted to know who has most miles on with the EGR blocker plate and who has the plate but no finger stick for those that are not in California?

I've had my EGR blocked with plate and stick for about 1000 miles now. Just returned from a 600 mile road trip. Tried to keep it below 75mph. Had absolutely no problems and MPG's are the same as they were without EGR mod. (17MPG Predator 40HP).

I've had mine plated and FingerSticked for about a week and a half now. Engine is Quieter at idle, turbo spools a little quicker. Haven't checked my milage yet, but even if there were none of these benefits I would still block it off just to keep all of that soot out of my engine. In fact after seeing pictures from another thread here, of an intake with around 5000 mi. I believe. I wish I could have done it sooner.

FWIW, I've been sticked and plated for going on 8000 miles.
