I have a bobcat with a v2203 diesel. I got it from someone that used starting fluid and blew a hole in the #1 piston...
I rebuilt the motor and have been running it but it has been smoking since the rebuild. I was hoping it would clear up but thats not the case.
It seems as though there is fuel in the crankcase. I replaced the injectors....no luck
I took it down to bobcat to have the injector pump looked at b/c I didnt want to toss a $800.00 dart at it. They say the injector pump is fine.
They tested the compression and said that #1 is low. He is telling me he has seen the rings not seat on these before which could be causing my problem? I am going to bring it home and see what I can do about it here vs. paying them to tear it apart again.
Anyone had any experience with these motors and the rings not seating? Any tips/tricks/etc?
Thanks

did you do all the cylinders or just just the bad one?

did you have the block honed?

was the bad cylinder inspected and measured to make sure it was round and in spec?

Sorry forgot to add all that.
I replaced just the 1 bad piston. I did however replace all the rings in the others. The block was honed and checked and was found to be good.
