I was wondering what IH tractor had a V8? They looked like a 1086 but had a V8 with a exhaust stack on each side of the hood. I seen one sitting in the weeds and Im wondering if thats a tractor I should see if he would sell some day when I get some spending $. I think those were somewhat rare.

The one you saw is either a 1468 or 1568...some of 4WD's also used the IH V8...the 1468 and 1568 used a IH DV550 V8. I would def. try to get a hold of it if its for sale, they are getting very hard to come by and are demanding a good price. One thing though, if its not running, parts are tough to come by.

I was thinking it may be worth some money as a pulling tractor. Depending on whats wrong with it, maybe just try to sell it like its as and turn a profit on it. It was sitting by a barn all grown up around it. I would have to stop and talk to the guy. This is just one of of about 50 abandoned tractors Id like to get my fingers on. When I seen the 2 exhaust pipes on it I was thinking that may be worth some money.

Not worth so much as a pulling tractor, the IH V8 kinda had a reputation as All Show and No Go, and that is coming from a die hard IH guy. You would have to throw a twin turbo setup on it to make it real competative with a 400 Series IH. They are worth some money to a collector though, right now we are looking for a 1468 or 1568 over anything else as our next restoration project.

Fix it up and put it on tractor house and ebay for $20k. Whats one of these tractors worth?

It depends on a lot of stuff...first off if its a 1468 or 1568. If its a 15, they demand a premium as there are not many of them, and the good ones that are out there are getting grabbed quick. If its straight and complete, if its in running or in running condition...there are a lot of factors that go into something and what its worth. If its rough, or if it has a ventalated block, you can stick alot of money into one getting it restored.

Id like to see up close, my big problem is I fell out of a tree and broke my collar bone. So the bills will probably start comming in soon. Im not paying for, I may have to at first but I may need a lawyer.
Once this mess is over I may have to stop over and talk to the guy. What I dont like is it has curved tips on the mufflers with no can on them. Im sure sitting for a few years let some water in there.
It would be nice to buy it cheap and see what the deal is, then figure on parting it out or fixing it up. Ive never seen one in the flesh before.

Broken collar bones are no fun...I broke mine my senior year of high school football...they sure make life miserable!
Curved tips do a pretty good job of keeping water out, but if it hasent run in a few years it may be a little tight inside. Shouldnt be a real big job getting it free'ed up. If its restoreable, it sure is something worth getting a hold of.

I broke the collar bone june 28th and still cant lay down. I fell 20ft head first and got lucky the root hump at the base of the tree hit my shoulder the same time the head hit the dirt otherwise Id be looking for a tractor with a wheel chair lift. It was a nasty break and needed surgury with a metal plate screwed down. If my back would quit hurting Id be in pretty good shape.
Once I get this money thing down that tractor will be on my to do list. It had duels on back but they looked pretty wore. That farm looked like something on texas chainsaw massacre. I may end up half eaten chained up in the basement.
