I did a search and found nothing on the motor mounts on the 8.1 trucks. I broke both of mine on my 2001 w 86K miles. I replaced them today,what a poor design for a big block engine,no wonder they failed,they are garbage,to small,to thin,and to close to the exhaust manifolds on top of all that.Both sides were gone.I also put the "upgraded" exhaust heat shields on as well.
I have to say im very dissapointed in the design of them,my 2000 Dodge Cummins has 137K+ and its on its original mounts,they are solid yet,and that truck makes 3x the torque the 8.1 does.My old 91 GMC 2500LD has its orignal mounts as well.
I may take some pics of them b4 i throw them in the scrap pile,GMC is very proud of these mounts,it costs over 260.00 for both of them and the shields at shop cost,retail would be well over $300.00 just for the parts.
