:help2: I'm going to try to hook up an electric tailgate lock in my truck. I want it to work with the normal door locks in the truck, so it locks/unlocks with the passenger door.

I noticed that on the driver's side interior fuse block, there are three relay blocks that aren't in use (probably because I have an Ext Cab and not a Crew Cab). These relay blocks are labeled as "Lock", "Unlock" and "RR fog lamp". I'm guessing the "rear fog lamp" is for the Canadian trucks. None of them seem to have any wires in the back of the fuse block either - strange.

I also only have a 10Amp fuse where the "Driver Unlock" relay is supposed to go.

I'd like to wire it like I had a Crew Cab, and use the "back Door" lock/unlock for the tail-gate/camper lift gate locks.

Can someone tell me how?

Thanks,

J

I realize that this is probably the hard way and I could just splice the tailgate lock wires into the passenger door wires, but I'm a little strange with stuff like that. I keep getting this feeling that I may be overloading the wires and/or fuse if I do that.

Thanks again.

I just spliced mine into the door wire like the instructions stated. I have not had any problem with it at all.

My bed cover has an electric lock, installer just tied into the rear door lock harness behind the drivers door kick panel. No problems. Opens with passenger doors. The load is only momentary.
