I am in the process of swapping my own injectors, truck has 265,000 miles so thats why. Earlier when I was removing the upper valve cover I missed one of the 5mm allen bolts on the back of the drivers side so when I popped the cover it cracked around the bolt seat. Is this fixable/useable still or do i need a new valve cover?

I would get a new one. you could try to use it because the rtv is somewhat forgiving.

is that the upper or lower?? I was assuming the upper but it looks like the lower. if it is the lower I would definately get a new one

Put on a new one. ;) With all the work that goes before, if you have a leak you will really be pissed after. CensoredCensoredCensoredCensoredCensored:eek:

anyone know of a source for a new one besides the dealer ship? Also wondering if it can be welded i am going to stop at a few welding places tomorrow to find out.

And yes it is the lower corner that tucks up by the fire wall on the drivers side.

You are right to check out a welding shop that knows how to weld aluminum. I used to weld aircraft aluminum, it just takes a special rod.

welding shop did a great job, when i took it in they said they couldnt weld that piece back on because it would be really weak so they just filled it out with their welder and i had to drill a new hole, I have a small oul seep right there that I need to go back in and fix just havent had the time.
