: Super Diesel's Centerlink & Sleeves Work Great! 2 More KILLS
RyanU 02-27-2005, 04:06 AM installed my SD centerlink and sleeves today. installation was easier that i expected. the hardest part was realigning my truck using the tape measure. but i figured out a pretty good strategy for that. i also measure my turing radius before the install and im gona check it again now that everythings in. i didnt even test it out before i raced tonight. the race was the first time i tried a 4wd launch.
the first race was against one of those new turbo neons. they clain 13.50+- in the quarter stock. this one has several aftermarket bolt ons. once again i had six people in the cab. we staged with me in the suicide lane...needless to say im pretty sure he never saw the road in front of him. ended up gettin him by 3-4 lengths.
the second was against a 02 SVT Cobra 'Stang 6spd w/ MSD ignition, cold air, headers and xpipe. This time 7 people in my cab. only he wanted suicide lane cause i guess he knew he was gonna be beat and didnt wanna hafta deal with all the smoke too..LOL once again lots of boost on the launch and gone once again. i think i only got him by around 3 lengths, im not sure. still not to bad
anyhow i love how the truck drives, i wasnt sure if i was gonna like it but i think its great. i let several of my buddies drive it and they all liked the way it felt. the 4wd launches were great, very smooth and straight, with NO FRONT WHEEL TOE!:grd: ill be posting the results of my turning radius test later today
Dmax Tim 02-27-2005, 04:44 AM Keep up the good work.
TheBac 02-27-2005, 09:05 AM Ryan...you need to change that signature now, I guess!
Nice kills, but 7 people in the cab???? Whats up? Your buddies don't want to watch from outside the truck?
Tom
Z71 Grizzly 02-27-2005, 10:04 AM They must want to feel the ride for themselves.:grd:
RyanU 02-27-2005, 01:35 PM well, its cold and i think everyone likes screamin out the windows at all the people wachin once we beat who we are racing.
Oh and i changed the sig too, thanks...LOL
I cant wait to feel what its like when i have the truck stripped down to race weight, i bet it will be a whole other animal with just me in the cab...LOL Once i get my NOS jets and solenoids worked out Illl be able to start using it, but for right now im stuck on #2
RyanU 02-27-2005, 02:29 PM heres some pics of the complete assembly
dpower 02-27-2005, 04:56 PM Did that come with the beer or was it extra?
:iamwithst
RyanU 02-27-2005, 05:30 PM LOL nope extra, but it was worth it!
TheBac 02-27-2005, 06:37 PM well, I'd think if you took the extra 1200 lbs of people out of the truck, you'd be quite a bit quicker....think about that. That Cobra wouldn't have been that close.....

moss022 02-27-2005, 07:29 PM dare i ask why there is carpet on your shop floor?
jholly 02-27-2005, 07:44 PM Wasn't his shop floor, he does his work in the living room :-)
Jim
RanaExcavating 02-27-2005, 07:57 PM Stop.... he really loves his truck! It's in the bedroom!
TheBac 02-27-2005, 09:12 PM Ryan must be single....If I got grease on the carpet, my wife would pull a "Lorena" on me, and finish the job, too!!!!!! Yow!
RyanU 02-27-2005, 10:07 PM LOL but if you really wanna know why there is carpet on the floor, its 2 reasons. The floor in there is the smooth finish so a creeper doesnt roll good anyway and the carpet makes it a lot nicer to lay on. The other reason is that if i pull the truck in the garage to do something and i fire up the space heater, with just the bare concrete showing it takes a lot longer to warm the place up and it harder to keep it warm. plus that concrete can be awful cold..LOL but i really enjoyed your alls guesses:lol:
9W3-HD 02-27-2005, 11:03 PM I know how important the tie rod sleeves are, but is the factory center link weak also, I guess I havent heard any horror stories about the centerlink? Just curious..
sdaver 02-27-2005, 11:52 PM dare i ask why there is carpet on your shop floor?
or living room maybe:eek:...............great kills let the riders watch
RyanU 02-28-2005, 01:30 AM I know how important the tie rod sleeves are, but is the factory center link weak also, I guess I havent heard any horror stories about the centerlink? Just curious..
well for the serious pullers and drag racers its a must unless you feel like strapping the centerlink and letting your torsion bars all the way down. SD can explain what happens in 4wd when puttin a lot of power down apparently the idler arm and pitman arm kinda rock backwards allowing the tires to severly toe in. check out this video for an example of this (http://www.diesel-central.com/Video/Movies/cynthiana-Ky-street/cynthskevincaudill2.wmv) the SD centerlink somehow fixes this toe. LOL
RyanU 02-28-2005, 02:09 AM BTW i did measure the turning radius before and after. the way i did it was ti pulled into a parkin lot and got my truck parallel to a curb. i marked a spot beside my tire and then i cut the wheels all the way until i was parallel with the curb again only going the other way. theni measure the distance in between. BEFORE was 41ft AFTER was 45ft so i had a 4 ft change. but my tires rub the a-arms bad in fully cut turns so i dont know how accurate this is.
Super Diesel 02-28-2005, 02:21 AM It is a leverage thing. If you ever run the 1/4 mile in 4WD under BIG power, you will leave twin black marks from the front wheels toeing in for the whole run. I picked up time and speed because there was less rolling resistance after I put on my center link. No toe in. You wouldn't believe how I tested and developed this thing last year. It was ugly. Good news was, the truck survived. It makes your steering much more solid, and sensitive to input. I still have on the test unit today. I won't go with out it now. It really shines in the truck pulls though, less resistance and all tires pulling in the same direction.:driver:
i can not believe the difference with my truck i ran the sleeves for a few months and if i launched with the t-bars up the truck was all over the road and toeing in, i even broke a cv doing this , now with the centerlink i do not lower the bars at all and its straight down the road and no toe, i think this is a must if you want to be able to do any spontaneous street racing either that or you can tell the competion "hold on while i strap down my front end"
TEXMudder 02-28-2005, 09:57 AM Is that a floor jack converted to a stool?
RyanU 02-28-2005, 03:09 PM Is that a floor jack converted to a stool?
 thats my specialty jack. that jack has removed my tranny twice, installed 2 rearends in my old truck but its gettin worn out. so to save myself about 15 extra pumps to get to the frame i just sit those wooden circles on there that i have cut out of speaker boxes...lol plus it gives some extended lift:grd:
lbz492 02-28-2005, 03:35 PM i have been reading alot about this super diesel steering parts but i can't find where you are able to get them. can some one let me know were you can buy
gearhead 02-28-2005, 03:43 PM i have been reading alot about this super diesel steering parts but i can't find where you are able to get them. can some one let me know were you can buy
give super diesel a PM.
RyanU 02-28-2005, 03:56 PM they are well worth the $$$ from just my couple days of driving on them. i was a bit skeptical on installing the centerlink as i heard a few people say that it made the trucks hard to drive in town and stuff. but in reality i cant tell much of a difference at all. except for the fact when i move the wheel the tires do too, no more play in the steering. truck runs the road great
moss022 02-28-2005, 05:19 PM dito!
