like the title says I have recently develeoped a faint but definate squeek coming from what seems to be the front right of the truck and only @ 1200-1300 rpms. With high fuel costs I have been hypermiling at seem to drift in and out of this rpm range quite often and hear it. It also does the same thing in park and reved slowly to those RPMS. If I goose it and blow right past that range I don't hear the squeek. It doesnt change tone or frequency (not cyclical sounding) and it only does it in this RPM range. At first I thought it might be the front right wheel, but once I tested in park, that Idea went out the window. I never run my AC so I doubt it's the belt, not sure on the tensioner pulley, although it seems like it would do it all the time if it were.

Any ideas, could it be a turbo or alternator bearing, something with the brake...? Im at a loss and grasping at straws.
I'd hate to have to go to a mechanic, as it is not too annoying and it hasn'e affected performance or driveablilty to this point
Thanks in advance

No problem. lol.

Power steering pump? Have someone in the truck and rev it while you stand there with the hood open.

I had a squeel that I believe was a result of the power steering pump applying too much load on the belt. I saw a TSB where GM was unnecessarily replacing alot of pumps when they just needed a fluid flush to clean them out.

I replaced the tensioner and lubed the tensioner pulley and the idler pulleys. Didn't change a thing.

Then I did a poor man's flush on the power steering fluid. Sucked it out of the reservoir with a vacuum gun, refilled it, ran it, repeated the process until the fluid was relatively clear. There is a method for flushing that is documented on the forums here - but I am alone and that method requires a partner in the cab of the truck...

I loaned the truck to a friend to go camping - I hoped that with fresh fluid it will clear itself up as the new fluid cleaned up the pump - providing better pressure regulation/blowoff in the pump. He called after he was on the road for 30 miles or so and said that it wasn't squeeking any longer....

After this experience I am replacing the p.s. fluid every 3 years/36k miles and thinking of installing a p.s. pump cooler.

Did it squeak when you were turning or also going straight? mine is indiscriment as far as whether I am turning the wheel or not. It also does in in park..
