What's is the total lenth that the total length I can be towing truck and trailer combo from NY to FL without needing a permit. Also how wide can I also be. right now I am at 66.6' and 8' 8" wide. From what I know I will not make it down to FL with out the DOT throwing a few fines my way. Can anyone shed some light on this for me ?

Do you mean that you are going to be pulling doubles? If you are you should check the laws of the states you will be traveling through. If you are illeagal the DOT will do more than give you a fine. They will not let you continue in your illeagal fashion. In califonia the max truck/trailer is 65' max truck/trailer/trailer is 75'. And you need a cdl with the proper endorsements. i.e. doubles/tripples

fed dot is (if memory serves) 102" / 8'6" wide, 65' long, 13'6" tall. some states let you go longer then that, with very few exceptions none go smaller on interstates. I would plan on getting oversize permits.. If you are as long as the semis, some dot may notice.

In large cities I wouldn't worry to much...its the towns somewhere between east bum**** and "boy you got a purdy mouth" that the cops will on you like white on rice for over length
X2 on that.been there, and go way out of my way to never go back.

Well I left thursday morning around 3 am and just pulled in Sunday morning at 4 am. The boat is sitting in front of my house now. :) I used 225 gallons of fuel and many hours behind the wheel :)
