Sorry if this is a dumb question but what is the difference between 5th wheel and gooseneck? I know that bumper pull mean towing with ball hitch and I know what pintle hitch is, but I always thought 5th wheel is the same as gooseneck isn't it?

fifth wheel is a smaller version of a tractor trailer rig. a flat bracket with an extended puck shape kingpin sits on a bracket and jaws lock the kingpin under the flat bracket.

gooseneck is a ball located in the bed of a truck, and a coupler lowers on to the ball, similar to a bumper connection but vertical rather than horizontal.
