: rock chips.....

I got my truck back from getting both rear lower quarter pannels painted, and the bottom of both front doors painted due to rock chips. I have the factory mud flaps but that doesnt seem to help much. Has anyone had any success with aftermarket mudflaps/fender flares?

Based on prior experience, before I even picked up my classic, I had it coated with a clear tape (can't recall the name) and I think it's a 3M product. They do it at many window tint places. It cost about $800 for the entire bottom of the truck below the molding, stock flares, front of hood, front air dam and including the headlights. You hardly know its there unless you are standing right next to the truck. I run all terrain BFG's and at 25K, not one rock chip - at least where the tape is.

Mud flaps are worthless.

Does it want to peel off? This would be great on my front clip.

I have some dealer installed GMC molded mudflaps that keep about 6" behind the tire clean. Lots on here recommend Duraflaps but I've never used them. I'm gonna do the line X thing when it gets too bad.

where did you get the clear bra put on at? Does it want to peel off, on the edges?

Got it put on in Antioch and would not go back. Some of edges have dirt in them and because of some factory bumper defect it was replaced. I have not looked close on the new bumper. Here's some local guys for ya'..

I had the same problem with mine. Then I took a trip to the Line X dealer and problem solved. Got rid of the mud flaps because I was just getting rock chips six inches behind them.

Clear Bra works great, had it put on my hood, painted pieces between headlights, and all along the rocker panels.

How much were they?

I bought Duraflaps a while ago and tried to install them with no luck. With my 285s they won't work.

Yes they are too short as well. Most are way to short to be useful 25 plus yrs ago I figured that out. They just have to come to within 4" of the ground to be good. Even with mine on the front I have a bracket from my camper tie down with baler belting to protect the front edge of the duelly fender flairs. That works well. With 14 " running boards running down the sides. It keeps the rocks where they belong. Now if I could get cars to go down the road alot further before they pull back in front of me the front end wouldn't have as many!

I think they are around $200 for the whole set.

you sir have the baddest truck on here:D
this is the exact combo I have been wanting to see.I have the littler version GMC as yours, and I have been tossing the linexed bottom, and bushwacker idea around for a while....this was the day I purchased my truck. Now I have fixed some dents in it, debadged it, and am about to get rid of the westins....

what is your lift set at? I noticed you added some pretty hefty mud flaps even after you did the bushwackers, and linexed bottom....does this combo completely eliminate stone chips and water sprayed down the side of your truck?
