I wanted to see if anyone had any experience or input as to if its a smart idea to tow a 6,000 lb boat on the 85 or 120 predator tune, if I have the transgo jr installed? Im assuming that its not recommended to start due to the tranny not being able to hold so much more power. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Sounds to me like you just answered you own question. But if you really are really considering doing this, I would highly advise not doing it. What I never understand is why people want to add so much more power to these trucks when pulling a trailer. How fast do you really need to go anyway? I would just keep it at the 40 or 45 hp setting, or maybe at the most the 60 or 65 hp setting (I forget the exact #'s). There are guys that have limped their trans on the 60 and above settings not towing. Let alone with a 6k trailer. And you might want to consider an EGT guage also. The predator is known for running hot. Jerry.

I've towed with predator 120. Forgot to unload it before I left and decided to see what would happen (I have an EGT gauge).
The EGt's where higher, noticeably higher, but I was able to keep them in check (not a big deal). The one thing that was very irritating, and the reason I will never do it again...my white trailer was cover with black soot when we got to the lake...only three hours away.

I tow my 26 ft Weekend Warrior (~10,000 loaded) at the 65 HP setting all the time. I have limped the trans once, doing something stupid (full throttle downshift from 5th to 4th trying to pass someone). As long as you're careful and aren't hammering on it you should be fine in the lower settings. Not sure I'd do the 120 though, that's a whole lotta juice for the trans to handle even NOT towing.

Thanks for the brains guys. Im not looking for more speed, just thought that mayb it would be easier on the motor on the higher setting...and therefore perhaps better fuel economy??? But I am happy running it on the 45 or 65 setting.
Thanks again

I've towed with my predator on the high setting a time or two. Nothing crazy with weight but you could definately notice a difference in EGT's. As mentioned before, keep an eye on those and you should be fine.
