MstgKillr 07-14-2008, 06:44 PM So what kind of mpg is this thing going to get in a 4wd Crew Cab?
I have read from a 25% increase over the 5.3, that would put me around 21 mpg.
I have also read that 25-30 mpg could be possible and 30-35 mpg with a programmer.
What does everyone think?
Any inside info?
CC02DMAX 07-14-2008, 07:23 PM I'd like to know also, because I'm definitely getting one when they come out with efi live or PPE.
mitchell87 07-14-2008, 11:54 PM I would say that 25 would be the high side for the 4wd Crew Cab. Maybe for the 2wd rcsb you could see close to 30. I don't think you could get 35, even with a programmer. JMO

ChevyDieselLLY 07-20-2008, 08:26 PM yea 25-30 would be the limit i think. but hey im sure someone will get it to more then 35

That's provided the ECM is tunable - it's a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish - the ECM doesn't look like anything we've seen before....

06cumminspower 07-23-2008, 09:14 PM my old 12v B series in my dodge gets close to 30 on the highway why couldn't a light 1/2 truck get over thirty with a lil programing and a dpf delete???
braddunagan 07-24-2008, 01:53 PM I think 22mpg from the factory is not out of question. Most definitely over 30mpg with a tuner. I am very curious to see one of the big boys get hold of it and see how much power can be umped out of it. If it is as state of the art as it appears I would say it might could compete with the 6.6. I want one to drop into a car!

Cadillac was talking about putting a little diesel in the CTS and have it get like 40+mpg i read. make for a fun car im sure.

I heard about this. Man that would be awesome. Turbo Diesel Caddy.
nitroracer1980 07-30-2008, 02:24 AM there saying that there going to be getting around 30 mpg. you can go to your local dealer and place your name on one if you like i did here in michigan.
one more thing if your not getting 20 mpg with your 5.3 then theres something wrong im getting 23 highway with my 5.3 tahoe and 18 in city.
pknowles 07-30-2008, 10:36 AM The whole reason injection timing has been decreasing (which has a huge effect on mpg) is to make the NOx emissions less. With the urea after treatment, GM may slightly over dose the exhaust with urea and finally give us back some injection timing to get good mpg from the factory. A least I hope so. :)

There are actually many diesel powered cts in some European countries. Interesting that they have not brought in the technology here in the states. GM does some funny things sometimes.

More likely that they have to do it over there. If you notice, most of the fuel efficient technology and emissions technology starts on the European models of most vehicles.

zzcrash 08-12-2008, 10:58 PM I would love to see one in the new hummer h3t pickup. Very surprised they haven't.
Sneeky Pete 08-13-2008, 01:55 PM mmmm 30 mpg *Dreeewlz* Lets hope it dont take to long to crack that ECM ;)

I read somewhere that the 2010 H3s' were getting a diesel of some sort, whether it's the 4.5(my wish) or maybe the Caddy CTS 2.9L V6 is yet to be seen. But since the 4.5 will fit wherever a GM small-block will fit, and since the H3(T) is available w/ a 5.3, the 4.5 would be A NO-BRAINER! a hard-core offroad truck w/ 520 Ft-Lbs and a 6L90E 6-speed auto w/ the tap-up/tap-down manual function would be right down the H3's alley.

I just hope GM does this before before they sell off Hummer.(If they do) But that would make for one sweet off roader.

i believe it i hate the epa but w/e
farmboy56 08-24-2008, 12:52 AM Whats more whack than the fact that other countries have diesel vehicles that we could only dream about is.....Most other countries are still using leaded fuel and have diesel with sulfur amounts that would get a man a little excited if you know what I mean.:D

Are you sure you get that mpg, is that instant mpg or avg. My 5.3 avg was 16mpg hwy and 13mpg overall. I use my trucks for work and keep records. Everybody seems to think they get better than they actually do.
