I'm a "most of the time" RV'er, using the 2004.5 Chevy 3500 to pull a fifth wheel. I'm also traveling with a second vehicle so while I stay in one location dually gets driven infrequently. Was getting parasitic battery drain so I had a heavy duty power disconnect switch installed by the battery. Turn that switch off and entire power supply is completely disconnected. My 3500 is stock. I've used this power disconnect for up to four weeks at a time with no observed deleterious effect. (Mostly the Bose XM radio station presets even still remain!)

Am I missing anything, any downside to leaving truck unpowered like that-- other than I realize no anti-theft alarm system.

I'm looking at installing a tuning performance upgrade soon-- among Predator, Banks Big Hoss Bundle, Edge Juice, etc., do you see any problem with those boxes regularly having their power interrupted for weeks at at time? Power 'em back up, they start again fine right where they left off? Thanks! --wheeler

I can't speak from the DMax side but our Nissan and the Mercedes are each totally disconnected from battery for 6 months each every year. So far, no problems. We do use a fuel stabilizer in each. Only difficulty I see is moisture accumulation in fuel if in a humid area.

One thing it will do is really irritate the guy trying to steal it. I can't see how it would hurt anything. Probably a good idea.
