My 01 2wd dmax
Im running a quad reprogrammer.
When I am towing , I have been having a condition where my truck seems to be running out of fuel ! the boost drops to about 7-9 lbs and the pyro wont go above 800-900 degrees. I think it is definetly a fuel issue.
Has anyone else run across this condition ?
Is it a fuel pump problem caused by the programmer or is a weak pump condition.
Any input would be appreciated
Jay

How Many Miles On Your Fuel Filter?

always the first thing to check but ours will lose all power if you keep your foot in it .... it revs up but the trans won't shift......like if you get on it a little bit to pass someone or something ... it down shifts to get power and then won't up shift.....thought this might help ya

I just changed the fuel filter, the condition is intermittent

I can be cruising at 60 mph and about 30 % throtle angle , and it will start chugging like a gasser thats running out of gas. Usually I just back out of the throttle for like 20 seconds , then the power will return , boost comes back up to normal and the pyro climbs back up to normal.
It seems like it is sucking air on the suction side of the fuel filter.
Last trip it happened like 8 times on a 250 mile trip.

When you say a lift pump will fix it . are you talking about adding a pusher pump between the fuel tank and the fuel filter ?

My 05 did the same thing last week. It had both new AC black line filter and a new racor on it (5 miles). Would run, but would buck, no power, no middle to full throttle, acting like no fuel. Took it to dealer who found pinhole in new AC filter, and a cracked fuel line near the stock filter head. 10 days to get new fuel line. So much for GM parts availability. t

My first guess at what the problem is, was a cracked fuel line on the suction side

The strange part is I have many full power runs , then all of a sudden it starts the running out fuel thing.

Does it exhibit this condition when the tank is 1/2 full or less?

No, it happens when hot or cold , full or empty.
