Hi,
I am so pleased to find this site. Of course, it is way over my head, but I hope to learn how to take good care of my new diesel.
It is a 2006 crew cab duramax. It has 33,000 miles on it.
I have only driven it once with my trailer on it and think it is great. Now, I was driving a 1991 GMC and loved it, but there is a drastic difference!!

A question is only stupid if it isn't asked.
Ask away!! That's what I do. :)

Very nice truck.
I want to try and find a longbed too. Just think that I may have problems and may have to have it brought in from out of state.

I like my long bed, but it can be interesting to park in some parking lots.

Yeah, I did not want the crew cab but definitely the long bed. Well, this one did not make it to the lot before I saw it and bought it. Sometimes you have to take what you get when it is a decent deal. I am going to drive it to work for the first time tomorrow and am pretty excited about that.
I did notice that I had less trouble backing my trailer up in it than the older truck. I suspect it was easier because it was longer than the other one so there is a plus already.

Actually the shorter the truck is the easier it is to back the trailer.
Also if the axles are further back it is a lot easier to back.
Maybe those huge mirrors are what helped you.

Shoot, don't let me know the truth!! I backed it right into the carport for the first time ever. It is only 20' long. and I thought it was the diesel... LOL

Hi,
I just got my diesel as well, it's an 05 duramax with 37 000 kms. I am looking for warranty approved ad ons that will increase power and economy. In the two days I have had my truck I have been very happy with it. I wonder what it will be like in the nwt winter.
I like the longbed where I come from it is must, but it does make for some interesting parking especially with a trailer.

Wonder how long it actually is. I should get out the tape measure.

Thank you, HH. I am unsure of where to post certain questions that are really basic and maybe you don't have a place on this advanced (to me) forum. For instance, I do want to know how often to change the fuel filter and also, why the little engine light stays on so long and then a lock symbol comes on the engine. That sort of thing.
A manual has been promised, but for now it would be nice to know these little things.
