I have a 2005 L2800, wish I had L3400. By the way The L2800 is 29hp.
The added HP of the L3400 is not really needed but would be nice. When your wallet quits hurtin', buy a Front end loader. Best money I have ever spent. If you have questions, just ask?

kubota, i got a L3400 hst with the loader, love this little tractor. you'll be happy with one:)
FYI the L3400 i got new was 17000 with the loader ,i think its better to get the one a little bigger and have more than enough tractor than wish you had it later

Go for the kubota, then I can get you parts at a discount if needed in the future!

I've owned them both and you can't go wrong either way. I prefer the John Deere. Have a 970 now with nearly 700 hours on it without one bit of trouble and it's worked hard when it gets worked.

My step dad has a 790 and is happy with it, he likes the gear driven trans in it.

I was looking for a tractor for quite a while. Go online and really look and see that a lot of companies that preach are full of BS. Look at the motor in a John Deere and a lot of other companies, you will find they are made in China. "The tractor company" was a great help and information. Do a lot of research and you can find a lot of very good deals. I bought a Furukawa articulating loader at an auction and will be able to sell it for a lot more than I paid for it after it has done my job and for what I paid I can keep it for Snow removal, or what ever. PLAY SAFE!

Ive voted the kabotas out im going with either the 3204 or the 790 with the front end.
Nothing wrong with kabota just not likeing my local dealers. I also am just a big fan of johndeere. I have a 54 poppler that I still hop on and ride.

Do not be fooled, John Deere does not make their own tractors and that green engine under the hood that says John Deere is not really a John Deere engine. They are nothing like their big brother iron IMO

I like the JD hydro better than the heel toe hydro. That is one reason I went with JD. The engines in the JD are Yanmar, which seems to be a good engine. I liked the setup of the JD over the Kabota. Price was a little less on the JD for the Hp that I got. I got a 3520. Used it box blading for the first time today. It did really good pulling a 6ft blade, but my skills with it, are not to good at this point.

Quality wise, I am not sure either one will steer you wrong. I had strong dealers for both brands where I was, so that was somewhat of a wash.

Good Luck

If mowing and discing are your main work, get the biggest gear drive tractor for the money. bet all 3 would have hard time pulling a 6' BH or disc. the hydro will produce lot of heat using it for 8-10 hrs/day discing.
I used to pull an 8' disc w/ my NH TC35D, but it was the bigger frame tractor.
I'd look for a nice used Deere or NH in a 50hp utility tractor and about the same money.

do you have a set of rear remotes?

put a hydraulic top link on the blade and it'll work wonders, you can adjust on the fly and go from hard cutting to feathering in a short distance.

I made a couple for my tractors and won't use anything else now.

here's a factory made one, less than $200

Every 1 has a good Sub Compact-Compact tractor line just comes down to who gonna shoot ya the best price and which one will fit you the best as the operator. From what i know Deere was not the first 1 to have a true Sub Compact tractor. It was Kubota and Newholland were the first 2 major Tractor companies lots of other Jap companies had them too. Go with somthing thats heavy for loader work

I ordered the 3402 johndeere today. Why do all yall like kabota so much? just wondering
Good of johndeere
Easier running capabilities.
running stick for loader is alot easier to use on the johndeere or atleast more comfortble

higher horsepower and wieght. Better deal and nicer people
Also Im getting a new skidsteer next spring. Im getting a johndeere cuss there loader meets my needs best and there serivce from where im at is awsome. (theyll fix it on site or come get it no charge and bring me a demo why mines down.) So im letting my bobcat go this coming spring. So i figured why not go and start a good realtionship with my dealer. That has ALOT to do why i went with them.
Im pretty happy about it.
Thanks guys

Id get a JD with a power reverser, you can get a narrow model about the same size as a compact abd the transmission is a gear drive but works almost like a hydro. And you can get up to 90hp now.

I am curious to know what you have heard about them? Is it all kubotas or just a few select models?

I heard kubota is using a cheaper steel now and they are having trouble with parts bending or breaking, mostly on loaders.

Oh and I dont disc alot 5 days out of the year. I have a 100hp johndeere with a 18ft fold down(Ithink thats how big it is.) we just borrow it for a weekend to do our big fields. I also dont want a big tractor cuss ill use this around my shop and some jobs when i can. Im by no means a farmer or trying to make this tractor be a farming tractor

Enjoy the new tractor.

I've got a Deere dealer like that and I really like my Deere 320 SSL. I had 2 250s and now 2 320s.

I am a service manager for a Kubota dealer and the L2800 has been a simple trouble free tractor for us. Should not have any trouble with the tractor. Cant really say anything about the deere as I have never messed with one. However for ease of operation and removal and installation of the loader you cant beat a kubota. I also was looking at the l2800 when I was tractor shopping and was steered toward the Grand L3130dt which is a bigger tractor with far more bells and whistles for about the same price but it is not a hydro. Could not be happier with my choice. Good luck

I agree with dls64chev...the L's are very simple and trouble free little tractors. But it seems as though you went with the Deere over the Kubota.

As for the weaker steel on Kubota loaders, we are doing about 2-5 Kubota loaders a week, varying sizes, and we have not had a single problem with anything once they leave our shop...

I heard its the front of the loader for the quick attch bucket. I guess its just cheap steel and gets mangled up real easy. I heard its the new ones, I guess the older ones were ok.

For the record JOHN DEERE owns all of YANMAR which is the company that makes some of their smaller tractors. All other JD compact utility tractors are built by none other than JOHN DEERE. And YANMAR is Japanese not Chinese.

The 790 and 990 JD models are Yanmar. Very high quality, 9x3 gear drive tractors. The newer compacts and 110 TLB are Yanmar.
The 4x20 series is made in the USA, Georgia with powertech engines.
The 5x03, 5x05 50hp utility tractors are I believe made in India?

Wrong, Cub Cadet owns or has combined with Yanmar now, hince the Cub Cadet Yanmar tractors that are now being built, which we also sell. Deere no longer uses the YANMAR name on anything as far as I know.

My JD Gator XUV has a Yanmar diesel engine. Deere still has a relationship with them, clearly.

Yanmar has the Cub Cadet Name on Compacts as their main tractor line Track tractors still run just as yanmar. Yanmar has some alliance with Briggs & Stratton now to use their Gas engine threw 2011. I always wondered why deere never came with their own engine in the compact and sub compact lines. I would love to see a small cummins in a deere since cummins has been comming with smaller and smaller diesel power.
