I'm on my 2nd stage V trans and still having problems. Hopefully They take care of me and it doesn't cost me much like it did last time. I just want my $6300 tranny to do what it's suppose to do.

What are your problems, any codes?

It shifts harder and harder, it leeks out the side cover, when cold 1st gear shifts really hard, gets stuck in 4th gear, and tcm was reprogrammed and isn't working right. that's about all right now.

do you change your setting on youe Edge often? the hard shifts kinda sounds like its re-learning. just my 2 cents

Not saying this is your only problem but get rid of the Edge it has history of causing poor shifting. You have a built transmission why don't you run a PPE programmer or go for max effort and get EFI Live.

$ is the main reason but I love the gauges too.
Also I don't change the Edge settings. and that can't be the problem because I had the Edge first and the tranny worked fine when it was new except for the reprogrammed TCM.

maybe when you got your TCM reprogrammed something went wrong and you need to re load it over again if im understanding you correct

BIGSILVER - A few observations: Do you tow a lot? Hard shifts could be the Allison's adaptive learning between towing/non-towing operation? In theory it should self correct this on it's own. Those who tow chine in on my theory.

Try tightening the PTO cover bolts, this should fix the leak, unless the gaskets bad.

Allison's all shift hard when there cold even in hot weather on initial operation due to cold shift strategy.

If it gets suck in 4th gear the trans should have set a code. Have you changed your primary fuel filter lately? I see you using a secondary fuel filter--could this cause to much restriction in fuel flow--thus the engine's
ECM in conjunction with your TCM is inhibiting 5th gear? Aside fromn the leak you've noted it may not be a trans problem at all.

The trans shifting hard in cold weather is the reult of the Edge not raising hp until certain ECTs are reached. The transmission is still trying to accomidate a higher hp truck. You have to lose a programmer of that nature if you want something that shifts more consistently.

I just changed both filters, but I just found out that I need a new injector pump and fuel regulator. As the engine warms up they stop delivering all the fuel needed. parts on order now estimated cost $2800 so far. I now need lots of money and did I mention I'm leaving for a 2800 mile trip first week of August. Then will hopefully just need now TCM and new side cover gasket.

Thats BS, you can find an entire CP3 brand new for roughly 1400$ go to a performance diesel shop have them install the CP3. Someone here should be able to get you a full CP3.

I might need to re word what I said earlier $2800 for everything installed too. not just the parts. But what is a CP3?

My Edge Juice did the same thing on my 03 LB7 with a Mike L. built SCIV. My brother in law drives it now, we loaded a 500hp EFI tune and it shifts like a dream... Not once stuck in 4th or any leaking though. Hope they take care of you.

Thank You, I believe I was told the cp3 is going to cost just under $900.00. Not quite sure yet have only been given rough estimates so far.

If you have fuel problems your Alli cannot shift correctly.

If you have fuel problems your Alli cannot shift correctly.

Why is this? I noticed my shifting improved after I installed my lift pumps. Is it because it's expecting X tq, but is getting X-y?

my buddy found a LBZ CP3 on here for a good deal. just check the market place

Thank you Mike! When the engine's not operating correctly (fuel problem) the TCM knows this and tries to protect the trans by inhibiting shiifting and TCC lockup.

Thank you Mike! When the engine's not operating correctly (fuel problem) the TCM knows this and tries to protect the trans by inhibiting shiifting and TCC lockup.

The TCM is watching speed sensor, throttle position, and rpm to make a proper shift. When there is a fuel proplem the rpm will not be correct and the speed sensor will not match the throttle position or rpm and the adapts ( TAP's ) will go crazy and can cause some hard and late shifts.
My truck has some bad injectors at the moment and the shifts are terrible. In stop and go traffic, the shifts get so ubrupt on the 1-2 that the TCM kicks back to 1st and set sets a CEL defaulting my Alli into low gear only. The codes it sets are Pressure Switch Manifold codes.
Fuel delivery is criticle to proper shifting.
