Well, I was clipping down I-35 today headed back to San Antonio from Dallas. Doing about 25 MPH faster than the right lane. All of a sudden, the semi in the lane to my right veers over as I'm passsing him and clips my mirror.

So, my break-away mirror folded in like it's supposed to - except the force of the impact popped the glass out and shattered it.

I pulled over at the next exit, popped it back into place so it wasn't flopping around - but the mirror glass is totalled. The housing itself and everything else is fine. The signal LED's even still light up.

Oh, BTW, these are the telescoping towing mirrors from the factory.

So - anyone got an idea how much the replacement mirror portion will be? I'm guessing the heated elements and LED's are part of the same package - so I guess I'd have to buy it all. I haven't called the dealer yet for a quote.

Are there any aftermarket options I can take instead of going OEM? Any help is appreciated. Thanks gang.

I broke the side mirror and called the dealer. They wanted $80, this place cost $35, since I just needed the glass. http://www.newgmparts.com/ They even sent me a happy holidays e-mail :)

They also double check with the VIN to make sure the part is right. Mine wasn't, so they sent me an e-mail, I called and we got it fixed.
