Why is the engine service light coming on?

I don't think it is, he just doesn't want to take the muffler off and have it come on. I think you might get a little bit more power, but it wouldn't be very noticable. It should help your milage too, but once again, not by much.

I asked the same question in the exhaust forum section. Pretty even split with about 1/3 losing mpg's, 1/3 the same and 1/3 gaining. All that tells me is that it depends! But more likely to lose mpgs, especially if you like to listen to the sweet sounds of hp being made.

Mileage will go down.... and that's only because you won't be able to keep your foot outta it :D... but if you're one of the very well controlled people (unlike me), your mileage may increase a TINY bit.

I have an 03 that didn't come with a catalytic converter on it, so I just cut the muffler out and put in a turnout. I didn't notice my mileage change any. Although I do tend to spin it up more often because it sounds sweet.:D

I do regret not having the piping run all the way to the side of the truck because I do get a bit of resonance going down the highway. I was actually thinking of doing a set of sidepipes like an old school muscle car. I use my truck every two weeks to get hay, so stacks aren't an option for me.
