Hey everybody! Thanks to the excellent info that you all provided for installing speakers, amps and subs to a facory head unit on an '01...I just finished installing new door speakers and 2 8" subs under the back seat. AMAZING DIFFERENCE!

I love the stock look, and also don't want to spend money where it doesn't need to be spent. However, I really want to be able to play MP3's through my stereo. Does anyone know if there is a way to ad an auxilary connection to the stock head unit? I have the cassette player in the center console, and the CD in the head unit. I don't really want to just get a cassette adapter and hook up an mp3 player. Maybe I could connect an RCA - 1/8" to the stereo somewhere on the back, then be able to plug an mp3 player into that?

Thoughts?

Thanks,

David

I've been using the #GM9-AUX unit from JP Customs on my truck and on my S-10 to connect my Dell Jukebox and my XM radio to my stock head unit. Works great! Installs in under 5 minutes. I don't have Onstar. I think you need a differnt harness if you have Onstar.

I bought mine for my IPOD at JPCustoms also. It's actually manufactured by PAC-Audio (Pacific Audio). Works wonderfullly.

Sweet! That will probably be my route...unless I come up with a cheap mp3 deck! Thanks all!

I purchase an Alpine 1.5din cd player off of ebay which has a perfect factory fit in my 01 Silverado. It controls an Alpine 6 disk cd/mp3 changer. Works great!!
