: Rear Clunk From Brakes?

Hi All,

Every now and then I am getting a clunk from the rear end when going reverse. A friend of mine suggested that it may be coming from the brakes and may be normal? I do notice that it is happening when I apply the brakes.

When I am going in reverse with no accleration and I lightly apply the brakes I get a noise that feels like someone has kicked the bottom of the truck or I have hit something, then it is fine again. I am quite certain that I did not hit anything and there is no one under the truck.

Anyone got any ideas? I posted earlier regarding this, but I believe my explanation of the symptoms may have been inncorrect. If I just put it in reverse and let it go it is fine until I put on the brakes.

Thanks,

Greg

Anyone put rear brakes on the truck or have the calipers or caliper brackets off? I have seen people not tighten them enough and have a bolt loosen or fall out and the caliper flops around

Would this be something that would affect my braking? Or would it coocue any other time? I am not having any trouble braking and there is no such noise in forward, only reverse. The rear end was worked on some time ago, the truck was wrecked last year. This is only a recent thing though, last few weeks.
