i bought a set of used 5" stack from a junk yard. the stacks have a spark plug in them and a 1/4" fitting (i guess for propane) how bada$$ would it be to have flaming stacks. but i dont know how to make them spark? i have a 99 mustang gt and it has a coil on each plug. if iget them workin i'll post a video

Well, you'll need something to trip those coils regardless. I suppose you could probably mod an MSD system to work...

Get the spark coil from a gasser and hook it between 12v+ and the spark plug which grounds out on the block? Careful though!

So this is about "How to blow up your truck"?

Take a look at what is required to have something installed on a vehicle (like a stove or a fridge) that uses gas like propane or butane in Germany. I know it's irrelevant here (and I better shut up), but it might tell you something.

What I'm saying is that it can be pretty dangerous to play with gas and that it doesn't make much sense to me to take the risk just to have some flames coming out of the exhaust.

To give you a simple example: If you have a camper in Germany, they usually have some kind of gas installation for a stove, a fridge or a heater. If you have a gas installation, you are required to have it checked by someone certified to do that every two years (Or was it every year?). What they do is checking everything involved, i. e. the appliances that run on gas, the pressure regulators, the hoses, the tubing, vents --- whatever. They do a pressure test on the system to see if it's leaking somewhere. You are required to use special hoses to connect the gas bottle(s) to the rest of the system, designed for the purpose. The hoses have special, standardized fittings, and they have a limit on how old the hoses can be --- if they are too old, you have to replace them. The rest of the system uses metal tubes. Everything that runs on gas is required to be equipped with a safety so that gas cannot run out when the flame is not burning --- and that even includes transportable camping stoves which are for outdoor use only.

The gas bottles seem to have a built-in safety valve that blows off gas in case the pressure in the bottle gets too high, to prevent an explosion. If the bottle doesn't stand upright, the safety valve doesn't work because the liquid gas inside the bottle blocks it --- or something like that. Therefore, you are required to keep gas bottles standing upright. If you are transporting gas bottles, they must be secured so that they can't move, and you must have the protective cap on the vent because the vents apparently tend to break off in accidents. There are also requirements about ventilation with outside air, and if you want to do a gas installation in a vehicle, you don't have much chance to do it yourself because you have to honor all regulations --- and when you're done, you need to have someone who is certified to make such installations sign up for it and then have them pass the inspection.

They go to lengths, and that's probably for very good reason.

So the good idea is not to do it in the first place. If you do it nonetheless, make sure that everything is in a well ventilated area so that any gas that might leak out cannot build up and create an explosive mixture of oxygen and gas. Find out how to handle gas bottles --- I don't know for the bottles used here, but maybe they also have safety valves, protective caps and need to be kept upright. Make sure that nobody coming along can easily mess with the gas bottle, like building a sufficiently ventilated box around it. But don't lock the box with a lock because in case of an accident, it's better when the box can be opened.

If you want to blow up yourself, that's your decision, but there may be others around who don't want to get hurt or killed ...

Ya sort of like lighting a fart on fire, it can be a good idea at the time but....There are kits out there for this and I suggest a kit. They have figured out all the problems. And lastly have fun with it but keep your stick on the ice.

Which brings up an important point... This is basically a flame thrower, and is, as I recall, illegal most places except for exhibitions. Be careful where you use it...

I just saw a video of Jay Leno. He has a jet powered motorcycle that was sitting at a red light and melted the front end of the car off behind him, it was cool. Sucks to be that guy.

DO NOT USE A BOTTLED GAS, unles you have one heck of a life insurance and or are a certified tech in that respect.
the flame thrower kits you see advertised use a methyl like liquid *maybe kerosene* pumped from a resivor like a windshield washer tank to a misting nozzle just before the tip of the tail pipe it sprays the liquid past a spark plug that is wired to an on off switch.
the last 2 i put in used a coil similer to a plug coil of a motorcycle. just remeber that if your pipes are verticle you could be shooting a flame 15-20 ft up and must take care to watch for overhead fire hazards if your pipes are horizontal side pipes you have pedestrians and other vehicles t oworry about catching fire, they look cool but when used by some people they are extremely dangerous. and not sure about where you guys are but here if your caught using them on public roads not only are you looking at serious fines for HTA violations but also criminal code charges

Actually propane is the correct choice for this type of "show", yes it is dangerous and should only be used for "show" only.

Are you in law, Im curious what charges could be occured?

Fart Kit = My home fried beens a our good Canadian beer. No, I meant for flaming stacks. Do a google search and there are kits, not cheap though. And kerosene is a very bag idea, it will come back down still on fire. Don't ask.
