I am wondering :wtf: is going on here ?
I went to Lake Powell a couple of weeks ago , towing my 21' boat and a jet-ski behind it.
Banks set on level 4 and all other settings with the Banks PDA set at factory settings. Level 4 is what a Banks tech recomended .
Tow haul on , and tranny engauged in the " D " not manual.
Yes I had to go up a couple of monster passes , Vail pass around 11,000'
thats the biggest one.
Egt's reached around 13 maybe 1400
Boost 26 - 28
Tranny temp 215
tranny slip the most I saw was around 20
After I had gone down the pass and probably traveld another 100 miles got to around Grand Junction and the alarm goes off , for tranny slip warning.
Now Banks told me that if i got to around 40 for a slippping number , I have problems. Got nowhere near that.
So truck or tuner ?
Also my EGT's would hang around 900 - 1050 just at a cruise flat ground , 6th gear and 75mph.
The real bitch is my mpg was 11.2 !!!!
I got that towing stock !!!
So I tried another setting for the way home.
Put Banks on level 3 , drove in Manual and kept it in 5 th gear and kept the rpms around 2000 - 2700.
Egts stayed lower 750 - 900 @ cruising speed of 75 mph
boost around 10 - 15
no tranny slip warning and my mpg went up to 12.5
Just got back from another lake trip to Glendo WY.
Nice flat drive. This time had the same set up but had my truck bed camper on.
Added maybe another 3600 lbs to the total
Got 10.5 mpg !!!
did the same on the way home
9.6 mpg !
this is worse that what I got towing stock
And my PDA is still randomly telling me that I need to make sure the key is on to get an OBD reading
One moer thing , stopped for fuel, ( ouch ) , turned truck off , fired up about 15 minutes later , still had tranny slip alarm going off . I wasnt moving haw could my tranny be slipping if I am sitting still.
Banks says its GM , GM says its my Banks
Please help ! With this kind of mpg Wife will make me sell and buy a 5.9L Dodge !!:help:

If your tranny was slipping that much in tow haul mode your truck would go into limp mode. If I had to guess I would say the Banks module is getting a faulse reading. Banks makes very good stuff, I've had 2 of there tuners in the past and was very satisfied with them, but nobodys perfect. In tow haul mode in second gear and up you should'nt see any slip at all.

Try to just reset the pda. Push a pen on the little reset button on back. Do you have version 2.0 also? Gm did have some updates in the past that had problems & now gm updated the trucks that brought some in. How old is your truck? I would only tow in levels 2 & 3. The Banks books only recomends that also or else you will see high temps like you did. If you have the ottomind, then you can tow in higher levels, but the sixgun stay in level 3 or below. I do not see anything in trans slip in 2nd gear. Once the torque convert locks then I see 16-20ish. Anything below mid 30ish is just considered noise & not a problem. At 100% that is a trans slip or close to one. At 40 you will have some slight wear & then it will back down for you. Run it in level 1 & see what your trans slip is & then you can compare it to the other levels. Mine still runs the same as the stock level & I have had a tuner on since 5,000 miles. I hope the reset works for you. If not call a tech guy & not just a saleman there. Jeff Barker on here is a saleman, but will get you the correct answer, if you do not get that from tech support. Good luck.

It sounds like you have the old program version. Crash is right, upgrade your PDA software and it should correct your problem. What was happening, on the old version, the GM computer wasn't reporting that a shift had occured fast enough. So if you were climbing a grade and the trans down shifted it would not be reported to the six gun quickly enough. The PDA will see your trucks speed as the same but your RPM's just went through the roof (because of the down shift) and would set off the slip warning. This will also remove all of the tuning as well as the slip saftey just kicked in. Download version 2.0 from our web site www.bankspower.com

I know it sucks but drop your speed to 65mph. Mpgs should raise 2-4?

No , I do not have the latest version , 2.0 .
Will get it.
Just had the truck in for the ecm reflash , was getting some really weird obd readings. Has been ok since. Still getting the code , make sure key is on , bla-bla-bla , trucks running !
I will update.
Planning a big road trip next year with the camper only. Around a 2,000 mile trip. Thinking about getting the super scoop , torque converter and the ATS co-pilot. What do you all think ?
Was told I could get a better set up for the money by upgrading the tranny for around the same cost......?
Need to fix the mpg soon , wife is getting pissed !
