: MBRP Exhaust Dealers in SoCal
BCHN4X4 02-24-2005, 08:28 PM Does anyone know of a MBRP exhaust dealer in southern california? I am looking at getting the 4" 409 S/S cat back exhaust and don't want to have to pay shipping then installation charges on top. Obviously I would like a repuable dealer, one who won't over charge. Any info would be great.

Why are you wasting you money on a A/M exhaust system? My 2003 has a 4"+ in system to the muffler and 3.5 to the rear. It needs it to suppress resonances....maybe not perfect. Remember to ask for ear muffs with the A/M system.
Ask MBRP for BSFC data (brake specific fuel consumption) before you spend $1000. What you will hear is...it gives 39 more HP, 45 ft-lb torque (close)....mostly BS. Be very careful with your money. I almost bought a K/N filter until I researched and found an SAE report on air filters. Guess who won????....the stock AC. The A/M guys moaned about oil analysis....with the usual below.
The typical rational from them is "I drove it around the block 6 times before and after and it really felt good. mileage improved from 16 to 22..all BS"
Remember, the aftermarket guys' mission is to SELL.
Show me some QUANTITATIVE data ( I am an Mechanical Engineer, in the Auto Industry for 25 years) and I will spend a $million with proof...until then....keep the oil and other fluids clean... use synthetics....carry a fuel filter and learn how to change it....buy fuel in the same place if possible.
LOVE MY GMC Duramax/Allison TRUCK

LOVE MY GMC Duramax/Allison TRUCKThe system he's interested in isn't $1000. Apparently you haven't ridden in a truck with MBRP cat back. You wouldn't need earplugs, I hope. IF you call MBRP I doubt they would claim the HP/TQ gains you speak of. You're right about the pipe sizes, but the factory muffler is more restrictive than a MBRP. Be very careful with my money? Thanks, but I'll spend it how and when I want.
McRat 02-25-2005, 09:49 PM I run a straight through 4" pipe. Just pipe, nothing else, and it's not "ear muff" territory. With the truck naked and the straight through it makes 271RWHP and with the stock system in place 246RWHP.
Do aftermarket exhausts make power? In my opinion they do.
McRat 02-25-2005, 09:51 PM PS - A muffled system sounds better than a straight pipe. My straight pipe sounds like a jet taking off at full tilt.
BCHN4X4 02-26-2005, 06:52 AM socaldieseltech what is the price of the system i am looking at, of course installed? if you don't want to post it you can email me at saboteer@yahoo.com.
socaldieseltech 02-26-2005, 10:59 AM PM sent.
