I have an 06 LBZ duramax and am looking to buy a dependable programer or chip, if there is such a thing. I had a Bully Dog Tripple Dog in my '03 that I sold with the truck. I have an AFE stage 2 intake and MBRP Exhaust turbo back. Just some in put of the pros and cons of each one would be great.

PPE is a great choice but any level above 90hp a stock tranny will be living on borrowed time. The predator is the best bang for the buck and has all the power that a stock tranny can handle. If you're looking to go with some serious power then get the ppe. You can get the ppe standard and upgrade it later.

Predator is the best bang for the buck IMHO.
I have tried the Edge Evolution, Hypertech Max Energy, a custom ECM, and I currently run the Predator.

I'll agree with the Predator. I had it for my '05 and loved it and I bought one for my '06. It is by far the best bang for your buck. Plus the numbers of the power it adds is the rwhp, not at the crank like some others are like. I have also heard that the numbers that DiabloSport states for each tune, are a little lower then what they actually are. Somewhere around 10-15 more hp then what is shown. I have heard it, but can't confirm it.

If you want to run the 120 hp tune, you can with the stock Alli but just build up to it. Start with the 65hp and run it for about 200-250 miles. Then move up to the 85hp and run that for the same or a few more miles. Then move up to the 120 tune. Let the Allison learn the extra power. It will take around 200 miles for it to do so. Now I'm not saying that your trany won't go in to Limp mode if you are pedel to the metal all the time, but if you let the trans learn the power, you will have a better chance at saving your trans. But look into the Transgo Jr. for your Allison to make it live a little longer.

Thanks for the responses. I went in to my local shop and they had told me that the shifting was very aggressive and was a lot harder on transmissions than the others. His figured his best would be the Edge Evolution. In what he installed in his opinion was the way to go. I havn't bought anything yet, still waiting for some more replies.

I was torn on the Predator and the PPE Economy, but went with the PPE. I'm really happy with it. Unfortunately, I haven't driven with the Predator to give a comparison, but I hear that the PPE is smoother.

Like I said, though, that is all hear-say. I can just tell you I'm stoked with my PPE.

The shifts with the Predator on my truck are at least as good as, and maybe better than stock. Very smooth. I had the EVO and it is a very good tuner to. Hard to beat the built-in gauges and the shifts are smooth with it on the lower levels, but the upper levels were hard. I stayed with the Predator because it seems to have more umph in the lower rpm range than the EVO.

I have no complaints with the predator. It shifts fine in my truck.
