My wife got in a wreck and bent the front and rear bumpers on her 2001 GMC 1500 Yukon XL. I thought that instead of replacing the bumpers and trailer hitch on her vehicle with new ones, I would put the ones from my 2002 GMC 2500HD D/A on her truck and put ranchand (or something similiar) on mine. I know that the filler panel on the top of the front bumper is taller (and not color paint matched) on my truck, but the filler panel on her truck is not damaged so I could re-use it on her truck.

Here are my questions:
1) Both trucks came with factory tow packages with receiver hitches. Her's is bent. Will the one from my truck fit on her truck without modifications.

2) Is the rear bumper assembly (from the frame brackets, face plate, plastic covers, tow bar, etc, etc) the same between the two? They look identical to me.

3) Besides the front filler plate, is the face plate (the chrome part of the bumper), mounting brackets, etc the same between the two and thus could be swapped out. As mentioned above, I would need to re-use her top filler panel, and the lower air damn as her truck has fog lights and mine does not.


I tried looking up the parts on the gmpartsdirect.com catalog but that site is worthless as none of the parts diagrams have part numbers on them :rant: If any of you guys knows of another online parts catalog with the GM part numbers in it I'm all ears :)

Should work, but the chassis difference may cause some issues. Its worth a shot though

If I remember right and I wont swear to this, but the hitch platform was different for the 2" body lift of the HD
