Are there two types of 7 way connectors when it comes to electric brakes.
I've got a 04 GMC and tow an 04 Carson Fun Runner that the plug matches the truck just fine. Just bought used Carson flatbed with brakes and the 7 way connector is different. Two big blades and 4 little ones. ????? WTF?

There are more than one, yes. The commercial trucks have ROUND connectors (7 ways), which does not have electric brake connections, while the RV industry uses the FLAT blades (7 ways). Then there are other proprietary ones, such as the assinine U-Haul plugs, etc. which sells a lot of converter plugs to fit standard automotive type of plugs.
The easiest and most economical way for you to go is to find the wiring diagram for the flatbed trailer and put on an RV type of plug (since your truck has the flat blade type already). Finding a conversion plug might not be an option. Or you can drill another hole in your truck and add a matching plug for the flatbed by tapping into the truck's wiring.
Good luck.

Like Flyer said, just make up a conversion plug.....easiest way out. I did that for my 4 prong flat boat trailer plug.
Good luck.:cool2:

cmcSwitch the flatbed over so it matches the truck, most of the truck makers use the same plug now and makes changing trucks easy.
I keep extra plugs at home for that reason, NAPA sells them around $6.
