I just bought a 97 F700 24' box truck for an upcoming move. I won't be seeing it until Weds, at which point I need to start loading and getting it ready for the trip. So, in the meantime I need to order some things for it, like a trailer brake controller.... when it hit me.

Is it 12v or 24v? I can tell you is has a 5.9 ISB rated at 175 and a spicer 6-speed if that adds any clues. GVW is either 23k or 26k (I forget). If I were standing next to it I could tell you just by lifting the hood, but I can't.

Any thoughts? I know big stuff is all 24v, but this kinda falls in the middle.

I know its a 12 valve, I'm wondering if its 12 volt or 24 volt. I know that light duty truck diesels are 12 volt and big rigs and motorcoaches are 24 volt, I'm just not sure which one this medium duty F700 is

oh sorry about that...im not 100% positive but if I were to guess i'd say its a 12v system.

It'll be 12vdc. 98% of all semi's are also 12vdc. It should have 2 group 31 batteries paralelled.

She'll be 12v just like my '98 F-800. Ford never made a 24volt dash cluster or other accessories for it to be anything else. It will, however, have two batteries, but they will be wired in parallel.

Ok, thanks all for the replies. Of all the class 8 and up stuff I've driven, they've all been 24v with a small 12v circuit for things like radio and accessories. Good to know this is most likely a 12v setup.
