Aquired a ecm from a 96 3500 "F" truck. Just wandering if I need to do anything else other than plug this in and go? My truck is a 96 1500 "S".

'96 is OBDII 32 bit flash programming. When GM puts a new one in they relearn TDCoff set and possibly set base timing for the new 'puter to work right.

Doe's this mean it is plug and play and it will learn my truck?

It will learn TDC Off Set after 50 starts or you can use a tool to reset to zero and do the old turn the key to on position, (do not start truck) and press the gas peddle to the floor for at least 45 seconds, and I think that should learn it. I maybe missing a couple steps here, but you can look up the procedure in this forum

May encounter a hiccup with theft deterrent supposed to be relavent to 97+ model yr trucks. From my exeperience TDC self learn does not happen, after any number of starts, I have tried multiple times hoping it would do it, only way I have done it successfully is with T2 or key off key on procedure APP to the floor. That said on OBD-I trucks it might self learn, the OBD-II which is what came in most 96s I posted in FAQs

Installed ECM over weekend and the truck seems to run great. Two ?'s though, 1. Does this mean my EGR is no longer operating and 2. Can I still do boost fool with the 10k pot that I have read about on a previous post? Also installed 97 cooling upgrade,180 degrees up and down the hills, the different ecm hasn't seemed to hurt mileage as I am still getting 22mpg on the highway. Thanks for all the help.

Hey, I'll trade you an 'F' lower intake manifold for an 'S'.

TDG, please email me at dwb3jrb@juno.com about intake, there is always possibilitys. Will my "S" upper work until I can find a "F" upper? I'm still new to all this moding.
